Once again the Percy Hounds showed at the last four local hound shows of the summer.
We had a good day at Falstone, winning the entered dog hound class with a hound we don’t often show, Woodhill, walked by Mr Joe Vickers. We also won the group with our two couple of bitches and won the entered bitch with Linnett who went on to be Reserve Champion. We also had a second in the unentered bitch with Gaelic and a second in the couple class with Poet and Poetry.
We then went to the Border Hound Show where Speedwell was second and our two couple of bitches were once again well liked in second.
The next show was Bellingham where there was a good show of hounds. We came second again with the two couple of bitches and then had a good first and second in the unentered bitches with Poetry, walked by Mr Davey Willey, beating her sister Poet, walked by Mrs Annette Grey, into second. Poet and Poetry then won the couple class and Pocket came third in the entered bitch class.
The last hound show was Pennymuir where Spitfire and his sister Speedwell were both second in the entered classes with Gamble and Poet coming second in the unentered classes.
This was the last hound show of the summer. The Percy hounds ended up winning ninety two rosettes this summer, four Championships and two Reserve Championships.
For Spitfire to win three Championships at three major shows was quite special. I don’t think we will have another hound do this in a hurry! Also apart from what he has done showing he is also very good in his work, hunting ninety two days last season.
