The last major hound show of the summer was the Scottish Hound Show held at Castle Holm, Langholm. We showed in the Modern and Old English Classes and had a very special day. We won all ten Old English Classes and four out of the five Modern Classes in the morning with the dog hounds. In winning the unentered dog hound class with Gamble we beat the Hurworth’s Cossack who had beaten us at both Yorkshire and Peterborough. I was also very pleased to win the two couple class as it was the last show we were going to show them at plus three of the four dogs were walked by Mrs Mary Bell who was there watching. Spitfire once again did us proud winning two Championships in one day, both the Modern and Old English. He is a great credit to his walker, our amateur whip, Mr Alan Morris.
We had a good afternoon coming second and third with our unentered bitches Poet and Poetry and winning a good brood bitch class with Poppy, who has had three litters of pups and is still the best working bitch in the kennels.
The day ended up with twenty seven rosettes, fifteen of them firsts and two championships.
It was good to see a good crowd of Percy people there. Also a big thank you to Mrs Annette Grey for a lovely lunch.
